Stop Hunger Now provides nutritious meals to people in hunger crises situations around the world. On Sunday, April 23, FUMCR will bag 17,241 bags (providing 103,448 meals) of a soy/rice/vitamin mixture. Each packet feeds 6 people. The cost of these meals is $30,000. The meal bags are sent to feed school children, refugees in camps, and victims of drought and famine.

You are invited to pause, focus on the word, read a scripture and a brief meditation related to the word, and then offer a prayer. Pausing in this way will help you carve out time for God and refresh your spirit even in the midst of a busy life.

A spiritual encounter of prayerful meditation, journaling and reading designed to open your heart in anticipation of the resurrected Christ in your life. Six meditation settings will be created in the sanctuary featuring Jesus' last six statements on the cross, as well as the resurrection, to offer insight on you faith journey. Participate at one or more tables. It is a self-directed time of prayer.

The Agape Resource and Assistance Center in Plano is a holistic, cutting-edge, innovative, servant ministry of peace and justice committed “to providing critical Housing and Life Skills that empower women and their children to transform from Crisis and Poverty to Self-Sustaining, Fulfilling Lives.” Agape will accomplish this mission through collaboration, advocacy and service delivery to help our most vulnerable neighbors in need move toward their goal of a quality, self-sustainable life.Service areas include all Collin County zip codes and those within 5 miles of East Plano Agape House. The focus is, first, to serve children and youth to break the poverty cycle and, second, to support families in crisis and facilitate permanent change for all. Agape is assembling and will manage an inventory of stable, safe and affordable housing utilizing existing facilities. Agape will collaborate with existing mercy service agencies to create a holistic continuum of care (sustenance, physical and spiritual wellbeing, education, and counseling) and will advocate for action to fill unmet needs such as affordable and effective childcare and job skill training. UMCOR Relief-Supply Kits help provide care for the most vulnerable people during times of crisis. UMCOR collects 6 types of kits for global distribution and cleaning buckets for US distribution after storms. These kits are bedding, layette, birthing, school, sewing, and health kits. In addition, cleaning buckets are distributed to U.S. areas hit by natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. Kits help sustain everyday life for people who lack ready access to essential supplies. They provide vital support for UMCOR’s global development work and make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Kits and buckets are collected at UMCOR depots such as Sager Brown in Baldwin, La. for distribution to locations around the world. Our support of these kits and buckets provides UMCOR with financial resources to purchase the needed items in bulk so that they can be distributed to communities and individuals wherever the need exists. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe.
