Confirmation (7th Grade Sunday School)

Confirmation is a robust program in which students engage with fellow classmates, bond during a fall retreat, learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith and United Methodist history, serve FUMCR, participate in a spring retreat, and ultimately participate in a Confirmation ceremony together.

Students learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith and United Methodist history.
  •  What it means to be a Christian
  •  What we believe as a church
  •  How we are to live our lives
  •  Church history and heritage
Confirmands contribute to the life of our congregation and live out their faith in the world.

The Confirmation year culminates with a worship service in which students publicly profess their faith in God through Jesus Christ, affirm their baptism vows, and become confirmed as members of First United Methodist Church Richardson. We believe that we are saved by God's grace through our faith, so this public profession marks the moment of justification/salvation that begins the lifelong process of sanctification - growing more and more like Christ until we genuinely love God and our neighbor in all that we do.

Sunday school plays a vital role in helping to build a solid foundation for the faith journey of our 7th-12th graders. We gather first as a large group in our worship space, then divide into high school and junior high classes

Seventh graders learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith and United Methodist history with the goal of growing more like Christ, loving God and our neighbor in all that we do. Mission opportunities, church visits, and a late-night event allow the group to have fun and serve together. Contact Melanie Jackson for more information. MJackson@fumcr.com
