Missions & Community Engagement

And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” - Matthew 25:40

It's part of our mission and in our DNA:

Serve with Christ

fumcr.com/serve for opportunities to serve right now

The following groups and committees facilitate our church's involvement in mission and community engagement locally and beyond. We invite you to browse each one, visit a meeting or two, and find your best place to get involved and help make an impact. Want some guidance? Contact Rev. Sarah Marsalis-Luginbill at sarah@fumcr.com.

Mission Work Area

Committee members meet and plan workcamps as well as fundraising events to support the workcamps and additional deserving beneficiaries. FUMCR has covenant relationships (salary support) with five United Methodist missionaries and financial partnerships with two churches.

Church & Society

This group works in areas of important social concern, developing resources to inform, motivate, and train members and guests on issues of social justice in the society.

Green Team

Are you passionate about Creation Care? Join this committee to take action in worship, education, practice, and advocacy to provide children, youth, and adults of all ages with inspiration, knowledge, encouragement, and practical means for caring for creation and justice.

Garden Ministry

Gardeners of all experience levels are invited to help tend seven raised beds of organic vegetables that are harvested and taken to Network of Community Ministries several times a month throughout the year. The greenhouse is used during the winter to start plants from seed and to prepare Mother's Day Patio Plants for the annual sale.

School Partnerships

Our partnerships with Mark Twain Elementary and Dover Elementary in Richardson ISD provide the entire FUMCR community with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children and educators in our community.

Ark House

This all-volunteer organization, has provided temporary, low cost housing to thousands of seriously ill patients and their families who must come to Dallas to receive medical care.
