The Women’s Bible Study this semester will meet for 8 weeks and will engage in Covenant Bible Study together. Covenant is an in-depth group Bible study in which participants read and discuss the Bible together, learning how to love God—and each other—better. The study focuses on relationships with God, with each other, and with the world.

What is it?  How does it work? Does it work?  If God knows everything, what is the point of praying? Using Philip Yancey’s DVD “Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference” as a starting point, this class, led by Rev. Mary Howard, will cover some of the issues surrounding prayer. It will also include specific ways to pray.

DISCIPLE is a program of discipline Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian leaders. Study the entire Bible through personal and group study over the course of 34 weeks. No prior Bible study experience is necessary. A good study Bible, such as the New Interpreters Study Bible, is recommended.

Rev. Mary Howard will facilitate the group using the lectio divina method for small groups. We will pray various scriptures and even some spiritual classics. Don’t worry if you don’t know what lectio divina means. You will be guided. Instead of focusing on facts and background information, we will be seeking to hear God speaking to us through the scriptures.

A long term commitment is not required. You may participate as your schedule permits.

Since 2006, The Employment Transition Ministry has provided a meeting for church and community members to come and get assistance with their job search needs in a small group setting. It is led by volunteers with years of experience that allow them to help attendees get their job search issues resolved so they can move forward in their search for their next opportunity.  

ETM does not meet on holidays or Sundays when there is a special event at the church.

Observers of our culture claim that an underlying boredom is pervasive, and that many persons lead fragmented lives, lacking any overarching sense of purpose or direction. Henry David Thoreau is often credited with the claim that “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation, and die with their song still inside them,” whether triggered by a mid-life crisis, loss of a job or shattered career, wrecked marriage, or simply disillusion with the “same old same old”… a flat, colorless life affording little reason to look forward to the next day.  Let’s consider certain helpful insights of psychology, and the relevance of faith.

Using the book Finding Your Voice in the Psalms: An Invitation to Honest Prayer by Elizabeth Canham, this study will look at how the Psalms give voice to the wide range of human emotions that we all experience in everyday living.  Rather than focusing on facts and figures about these Psalms, we will use them to practice lectio divina.  Don’t worry if you don’t know what lectio divina means.  We’ll guide you and help you dive deeper into experiencing the Psalms in a meaningful way.
