The list below includes specific current and upcoming opportunities. We also have many ongoing mission/outreach groups and groups that provide ongoing support within FUMCR that you may choose to assist and join.

  • Sunday Morning Traditional Worship Greeters  •  Beginning 11/12/2017

    All ages are invited to serve, as we welcome all those who worship on Sunday mornings! Open doors, share a warm smile and share the excitement with all.

    • Serve as your schedule allows
    • Most shifts are only 20 minutes before service
    • Children are welcome & encouraged to serve alongside their parents!

  • ACCESS Welcoming Team  •  Beginning 11/12/2017

    Looking for some variety in serving at the church and enjoy ACCESS worship? Join our ACCESS welcoming team!

    - Several duties to choose from from such as, handing out connect cards, assisting at our name tag tables, ushering during offering or communion, giving gifts at our name tag table, helping assist people who would like to join our church, or cleaning up after worship
    - Choose between working 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Sundays.
    - Children are encouraged to serve along side you
    - We prefer you serve once a month but are flexible if you schedule changes. Serve as much as you like!
    - Training happens before service at 10:30 for those who need it and shifts start at 10:45.

  • Ark House Communications/PR Chairman  •  Beginning 1/1/2018

    Promote Ark House by producing brochures and twice yearly newsletters, maintaining website (ArkHouseDallas.org), creating news releases, maintaining a speaker's bureau, and by any other methods deemed necessary.

  • Congregational Care Caller  •  Beginning 2/15/2018

    Volunteers call church members to see how they are doing, if all is well and if they have any needs the church should be aware of. We are a big church that strives to feel small, and to let members know they are cared for. We are in need of 2 - 3 more volunteers willing to make 12-15 calls a month. Calls can be made at your convenience and from the comfort of home. Training is available.   • Nursing Home Visitors  •  Beginning 3/1/2018

    Visit one or more church members who live in a nursing home or retirement center on a recurring basis, once or twice a month. Submit a brief report of each visit via form on FUMCR website for Caring Ministry records. Completion of Ministry Safe program is required.

  • Homebound Communion Server  •  Beginning 3/4/2018

    The Homebound Communion team needs three new members. Members of this team serve communion each month to people who are unable to attend church. Each team member is assigned 1-3 people to serve and serves the same people each month, often establishing long-term relationships.   • Habitat for Humanity Spring Build  •  Beginning 4/7/2018

    Spend one or more Saturdays, Apr 7 - Jun 9 (except May 26), building a house for a deserving family. Bring a regulation size hammer, pencil, retractable tape measure, and wear sturdy shoes. Meet in the First Center parking lot (across Custer from the church) at 7:20 any Saturday of the 10-week build to ride the bus to the building site. Breakfast, snacks, lunch, and water are provided. Participants will return to the church about 4 pm. The minimum age is 16 years old. Anyone 16-17 must have a parent or other adult with them.

    Tasks include rough framing and roofing, ground carpentry work, and painting.

    Richardson Area Interfaith Habitat has supported Dallas Habitat for Humanity since 1991 in building homes and hope anchored in affordable home ownership opportunities. The Spring 2018 House Build will be at 1511 Dennison St., Dallas.

  • "Buddy Fun Day" Volunteers  •  Beginning 5/25/2018

    This will be a day of fun and games with students at Mark Twain and Greenwood Hills Elementary Schools! No experience required. Our main jobs will be monitoring stations.
    MTE shifts are 8:30-10:30 and 12:30-2:30.
    GHE shift is 7:45-1:00 and includes lunch for the volunteers.

  • Children's Summer Sunday School Volunteers  •  Beginning 6/3/2018

    Most of the Sunday School teachers during the school year, take a much needed break during the summer and come back in the Fall. Which means, I need help with our wonderful children's classes. We have the following opportunities available during the summer:
    Every other week for 3 year olds – 1st grade during the 8:45, 9:45 and 11:00 hours
    Teach as little as one Sunday for 2nd - 6th grade at 9:45
    Be on our sub list and help when available

    Please consider serving during the summer.

  • Annual Conference Volunteers Needed  •  Beginning 6/3/2018

    FUMCR is blessed to host Annual Conference June 3-5, 2018, and we cannot do it without you! There will be MANY volunteer opportunities throughout the conference. Serve all day or serve one shift. However you can help, we are grateful.

    Positions include:

    Greeters
    Information Desk Attendants
    Golf Cart Drivers
    Bus Drivers
    Facility Team
    Snack Station Attendants
    Lunch Hosts

    FUMCR is known for its radical hospitality. Let's live out our mission statement together as we Welcome people for Christ, Grow people in Christ and Serve people with Christ.

    Note there will be an ALL VOLUNTEER kick-off meeting on Sunday, May 20th at 12:15 in Coleman Family Hall. You will receive the conference schedule, information about your volunteer role, and your t-shirt.

  • Rio Texas Workcamp Participants  •  Beginning 6/10/2018

    A team from FUMCR will go to the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, which is in the coastal bend area of south Texas, to help with rebuilding from Hurricane Harvey. Work will be primarily residential and could include installing sheetrock, insulation, cabinets, roof work, painting, or cleanup. Skilled and non-skilled volunteers are needed.

    Dates: June 10-16, 2018
    Open to: Adults, 18+
    Cost: $125 per person to help defray costs of food and transportation
    Lodging and showers: Team will stay at Sinton UMC in Sinton, Texas. Air mattresses are needed for sleeping
    Transportation: 12 passenger vans
    Food: Cooks have been recruited to plan and prepare the meals
    Vaccinations needed: Current tetanus

  • VBC 2018 Crew Leaders, and Games Station Volunteers  •  Beginning 6/11/2018

    We have several spots left for Crew Leaders (who partner up to guide a group of kids through the VBC stations), and games station volunteers (who help explain and supervise the activity of the day to the kids as they cycle through that station). VBC runs June 11th - 15th from 9am to 12pm each day! Volunteer today to claim camper spots for the children in your life, or just to experience the joy of serving the youth of our community- either way it’s going to be a tremendous week at FUMCR!

  • Read With Me Volunteers  •  Beginning 7/9/2018

    Volunteer to read with a child, help with crafts, lead games, or manage snack time. Program runs weekday mornings, 9:30-11:30, July 9-27, in Bartula Family Life Center, rooms 2A, 2B, and 2C. Sign up for one or more days to make a difference for a child this summer. Ministry Safe certification required.
